The 100-year-old launches its first e-commerce store!
After 116 years in retail, one of Sweden’s leading multibrand stores is now investing in e-commerce. Ströms Man & Woman has been outfitting Swedes since 1939 in its historic store on Kungsgatan in Stockholm. Now, they are finally taking the step forward and launching their online store to meet customers wherever they may be.
Stroms.com launched its e-commerce platform during the Christmas shopping period and received a positive response from customers. Sales exceeded expectations despite the ongoing pandemic, a clear sign that there has been demand among both new and existing customers. Ströms’ focus on personal service is unmistakable in the physical store, and now they aim to become the best in the field online as well.
“We believe that the combination of a physical store and an online shop will create added value for our customers. E-commerce becomes an additional service that enables us to reach customers when they cannot visit the store. Furthermore, we can combine the two channels, as customers can discover new garments on our website, purchase them digitally, and then pick them up in-store where we can offer additional service,” explains Ströms’ CEO, Torbjörn Rusck.
For Ströms, launching the new online store was incredibly important as they found themselves in the middle of an ongoing pandemic. It was a venture that required both design and e-commerce development to move quickly.
In addition to offering first-class service, sustainability is an important focus for Ströms. One of their major goals is to create an environmentally friendly e-commerce experience with a low return rate. Ströms is already working with green delivery options through Budbee as well as offering free in-store pickup to reduce the number of deliveries.
